There is a good reason why monopolies and price-fixing amongst supposed competitors is illegal. It's because one industry group, like big oil today, knowing the public needs their product desperately (in part thanks to them fighting all clean fuels and efficiency bills) has the power to charge anything they want. But only if there is no policing from above., And you know damned well that the last thing on earth Bush-Cheney would ever do is interfere with big oil's maximization of profits. They've had five years to do it and haven't even hinted at ever wanting to do it, ever. IOt's never going to happen.

So, obviously, if you're the CEO of Exxon or Chevron, it's party-time. Free money. Hundreds of billions. Yours for the taking. And according to the laws of free enterprise, it's their job to take as much as possible from the helpless public. All because Bush-Cheney are corrupt big oil insiders. It's an inside job all the way.
