let's not forget the billions in Russian arms just agreed to for Vz. nut.

on the other hand we have people like Kerry who question why we do not have direct talks with north korea since Clinton was so successful when he did it. Got to love our U.N. representative when he rips kerry apart by not letting him get away with the statement during his questioning yesterday afternoon. Then we got Dodd who is still pissed off because he lost support for castro in opening up trade with Cuba. Oh, did you know Dodd is thinking of running for president?

"Am I the only one who feels that the middle east is inexorably moving, step by step into a conflagation that could spell a nuclear exchange, add to that the nut job in N. Korea who now has missiles reputedly capable of reaching the west coast or alaska of USA and I have never felt more dejected over the prospects for the world."

Nope. I figured the odds were 50-50 when 9-11 happened. I have friends who are "plugged in" who, after 9-11 thought it was inevitable. I've raised my odds to 80-20 in favor of nukes.

Good post, JDN. And I think that there are many of us who feel as you do, complete with the feeling that we are just shouting in the wind.

The people who don't feel as we do, are exactly the opposite. Saying they are thinking positive (implying that we are the negative ones), not willing to discuss anything that might not agree with their view of the world, so are instead hiding their heads in the sand.

It isn't just here on SI....it's everywhere we turn.

Most of us are still hopeful that the world will come to it's senses, but it is hard, when so many others don't want to believe there is a problem.
