I expect that Israel would welcome an army controlled by a democratic regime in Lebanon. Isreael has had peace with Jordan and Egypt for many years now.

That's the history of guerilla warfare. The poor do not have the resources of their oppressors and they must fight a psychological war. They hide small caches of weapons. They drive taxis by day and scout out targets and listen to their riders. They sneak out by night and attack and then melt into the woodwork to drive that taxi again tomorrow. I'm sure the vast majority of Lebanese just want to live in peace and raise their children to have better lives than they do, the same as people everywhere. These innocent people are being murdered by the Israelis.
