Beinart is either the editor of The New Republic or one of the lead editors. He has a new book out which argues for a muscled up Dem foreign policy on the Scoop Jackson model. At least best I can tell from the reviews. It's been hotly reviewed and debated on the Dem blogs.

Looking at the reviews, there appears to be a great deal of similarity between Beinart's argument and that of failed neocon Frances Fukuyama (sp??) in his new book.
