Tremoglie, Special To The Evening Bulletin 07/28/2006 On July 20, the House of Representatives passed Resolution 921 which condemned "the recent attacks against the State of Israel, holding terrorists and their state-sponsors accountable for such attacks, supporting Israel's right to defend itself, and for other purposes." The resolution passed 410 to 8. Four representatives voted present - essentially abstaining - and ten did not vote. Of the eight voting against it, seven were Democrats and one was a Republican. The representatives voting against were Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), John Conyers (D-Michigan), John Dingell (D-Michigan), James McDermott (D-Washington), Fortney "Pete" Stark (D-California), Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-Michigan), and Nick Rahall (D-West Virginia). The lone Republican was Ron Paul (R-Texas). Abercrombie, Stark, Conyers, Dingell and McDermott are leaders of the lunatic liberal fringe of the Democratic Party. Paul is a leader of the lunatic conservative fringe of the Republican Party. Dingell and Conyers are ranking members. This means that, if the Democrats were the majority party, these two would be chairmen of committees. Conyers is currently trying to impeach President Bush. He has sponsored legislation to that effect. He obviously considers Bush more of a threat to the United States than terrorists. McDermott was in Baghdad before the war stating President Bush was lying. He also claimed that the capture of Saddam Hussein was timed to politically benefit the president. However, McDermott is probably most famous for violating the rights of House Majority Leader Republican Congressman John Boehner of Ohio. McDermott has to pay Boehner more than $700,000 for providing an illegally taped conversation between Boehner, Newt Gingrich and other Republican congressmen to The New York Times and other news organizations. These are the leaders of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives. This should provide some insight as to why and how they vote. The stunning vote against a resolution condemning terrorists and advocating Israel's right to defend itself was not reported by the liberal media. One can only speculate why that would be. Yet, those who voted against this simple statement are indicative of a disturbing trend in American politics. There are those in American politics, primarily liberal Democrats, who do not think that there is a difference between Israel's actions and the actions of Hezbollah. Indeed, they make excuses for Hezbollah and Muslim terrorists. Why? Who knows. Maybe they feel they are enlightened and seeking justice by making Hezbollah equivalent to Israel. Maybe they feel that Hezbollah is a manifestation of some perceived victimization of Muslims by Israel. No one can say for sure. Liberal Democrats' foreign policy is much like their criminal justice policy - appease, appease, appease. They make the simple complex. They try to rationalize their behavior with convoluted logic. The whole situation in the Middle East, which has caused certain Muslim groups to not only target Israel but the United States as well, is quite simple. The people who founded, as well as those who belong to, organizations like Hamas, al-Qaida, Hezbollah and the PLO want Israel obliterated. They want to eliminate the nation entirely. They feel the land Israel occupies is Muslim land and belongs to Palestinians (they forget the land was Christian before it was Muslim, however; that is another concept for another time). This is the plain simple fact of the matter. The Islamists' hatred of the United States has nothing to do with oil or troops stationed somewhere or anything other than support for Israel. This hatred has to do with the alliance between the U.S. and Israel that prevents them from conquering Israel (although one can make a case that Israel did pretty well without U.S. help). Their hatred of Israel has existed for almost sixty years. They never have accepted Israel, they do not now accept Israel, and they never will accept Israel. Those who believe that a negotiated settlement can be achieved are fooling themselves. The lunatic fringe Muslims do not want Israel to exist. They have felt this way since 1948. Nothing will change that except the destruction of Israel. Simply put, Hezbollah et. al. want to kill Jews! They want to pick up where Hitler left off. There is nothing more to it than that. They have been at it for two generations now. Muslim terrorists have been killing Americans since at least 1973 when American Ambassador Cleo Noel was killed by Arafat's Black September group.
