I doubt it. What's hateful in walking out? And what group is targeted for hate? Hate speech applies to very specific groups- the liberal media is not one of those- at least not in california. I'll go check the Bane statute, but I'm pretty sure liberal media members are not referred to.

The only possible opening I see is the broad class of "political affiliation"- but as you will see, speech alone is not enough, you have to be threatening. Walking out is not threatening. I don't think anyone, other than you, would claim it was hate speech.
