I wonder how you make sure that the majority does not remain in the dark? Obviously a truly boisterous and investigative press should do that, but we don't have that. So what to do? The problem, to my mind, is that we have a Traditional Media that has become little more than an amplifier for the administration's official statements. The root causes have been defined as media ownership consolidation (I routinely challenge those folks who like to call the TM "liberal" to identify all the Leftist ownership amongst General Electric, Disney, and Time Life) and the ending of the Fairness Doctrine. It might be time to review the outcomes of both these causes, but I doubt there is much motivation among the ruling class to do so. And so the republic is essentially saddled with a new Pravda and all that it entails.
