OH GAWD! I THINK I'M GOING TO RETCH!

What can I say? Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

Here in CA, when the state was clearly threatened with bankruptcy (brought on by the gross fiscal mismanagement of its previous Dem governor), the teacher's union was the strongest and most active union in opposing budget cuts by the newly elected Republican governor (elected after the Dem governor had been recalled- -only the 2nd state governor to be recalled in US history). In spite of the fact that their demands could ruin the state's credit rating and greatly increase the interest rate on its bonds (if it could sell bonds at all), those teachers unions INSISTED that no cuts be made in THEIR budget. Every other part of the state gov't, including police protection, fire protection, highway maintenance (already a problem here), ... could take the hit instead.
