Who sought and received assurances from the Israeli PM. Kofi did his job, the PM did not.

Oh for goodness sake, how can anyone guarantee that any specific site in a battlefield won't be hit. The UN should have been pulled back as soon as the bombs started. It doesn't matter how many times someone says, "oh yes we'll be careful," we are talking about bombs. And they phoned 12 times to say to the Israelis were coming too close to their position. Why wouldn't someone say, look the Israelis are not controlling their bombs, Notify them that we are withdrawing and then told them the time the 4 men would leave. Those men should not have been in that post. It's a wonder Hezbollah didn't blow the place up and blame the Israelis.

I see that Kofi has now told all the UN observers to leave. It needed Harper to ask the question "why are they there", unfurtunately after 4 deaths.
