I think the way to describe him is to say he is very intelligent. "I have seen no evidence of that. Intelligence implies ability to cogitate, not to comprehend. and has limited common sense. "Try none." This is the area in which Ted is critically limited. He used to be a good guy "I missed that phase." It was your loss. It is sad for Ted too. (though partisan) until he got his masters. ???????? Mail order? I suspect it was as real as an education college can issue. It was as if a switch flipped on that day and he lost any semblance of understanding or compassion for his fellow human being.
