I noticed from the statistics in some article about the marriages in that state that homosexual partners seemed to be doing better than heterosexuals, in terms of their divorce rate. If that keeps up we'll need homosexuals to show the heterosexuals how to keep the sanctity of marriage.

Queer Marriage for the Straight Couple? I think there's a great TV program in this.

That would be true ordinarily, except that the couple was carefully chosen to be the poster example of the the sincerity and commitment of gay couples yearning for marriage.

Thus, the Boston Globe (a very liberal newspaper) considered it front page news, just as they had considered the marriage to be front page news.

All of which is eminently understandable.

Certainly the gay marriage advocates wish they had chosen another couple, which is also understandable.
