So, I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. The kids do, but that's their problem. <G> I consider myself semi-pro until I build up enough from poker to make it both the continuing part and the emergency part of my income). I have finished my boot camp online. I was playing 8 to 10 hours a day in every kind of game and format to get as much experience as possible. I now plan to plan my work day more systematically. One tournament in the morning, one in the afternoon or evening. Do I think I have all the experience I need? No. But I have a lot now. And I was losing focus with all the different games on the same day. Plays you make when you lose focus are a bad sort of experience to gain. I have been playing tournaments in the $2 to $20 entry fee range. Though I had one spectacular win in a $2 tourney with several hundred entries, and many nice payoffs in the $5 to $10 range, I have performed best, more often, in the $13 to $20 games. The negative is that these tourneys tend to have fewer entries. But anything over 100 entries still gives me lots of leverage. I now plan to focus on the $18 to $50 buyin range. And concentrate my efforts at Full Tilt, PokerStars and Pacific Poker. Smaller buy in tourneys are nice if you finish in the top 5. But, many of my finishes are at the pay level, but not in the top 5. With the small tourneys, the other pay levels are minimal and contribute little to making my daily nut. At the higher entry levels, the low pays tend to compensate me for my time. I know that I'm going to bust out often and lose my buyin, but, when I get paid, I want to get paid. I don't like the idea of working hard for 3 1/2 hours and netting $23. The major worry I have is that I have always played for first in the smaller buyin tourneys. Will I play just to survive the bubble in higher buyins? I will have to watch myself on that one. First place is still where most of the money is. I'll report back in about 6 weeks.
