"...and is then vilified by the world when it tries to destroy the enemy's infrastructure and strongholds with precision-guided munitions that sometimes have the unintended but unavoidable consequence of collateral civilian death and suffering?"

This guy is nothing more than an apologist for Israel. Anyone who has seen the destruction in Beirut would know better than to believe this kind of crap.

Yeah, right. Getting educated by the neocons about the Middle-East! Who is teaching the next chapter? The other expert Bill Kristol?!

"When the United States was attacked at Pearl Harbor, it did not respond with a parallel "proportionate" attack on a Japanese naval base. It launched a four-year campaign that killed millions of Japanese, reduced Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki to cinders, and turned the Japanese home islands into rubble and ruin.

Disproportionate? No. When one is wantonly attacked by an aggressor, one has every right -- legal and moral -- to carry the fight until the aggressor is disarmed and so disabled that it cannot threaten one's security again. That's what it took with Japan."

Wow! This guy is completely deluded. First, Lebanon is a fledgling democracy with a democratically elected president. Only months before Bush was claiming Lebanon as proof of progress in the middle east.

Hezbollah does not control Lebanon. They don't control the government or the people.

There's a huge difference between the situation in WWII with Japan, and the situation in Lebanon.

The aggression by Japan was done by the Japanese government. That aggression was massive in scale.

In Lebanon, the aggression was a minor kidnapping, and it was not done by the Lebanese government. It was done by Hezbollah. A kidnapping is not invasion and control of the south Pacific and a bombing of Pearl Harbor!

Only a complete idiot could read this crap and post it as justification for the bombing of innocents...innocents that had nothing to do with a kidnapping done by a resistance group or as Israel calls them terrorists.
