O'Reilly represents the populist sentiment that is always bubbling below the surface of American politics. It's been out of favor for several years now, because Ross Perot made it such a JOKE-while accomplishing nothing but putting the corrupt Bill Clinton in the White House with two straight minority popular votes.

(Aside: I note that the fraudulent "pollsters" who pump the idea that Bush is "unpopular" always had Clinton at "60%", even though he could never get most of America to support him. It's far too NICE to explain them by saying they have a CALL list.)

But populist leaders who make fools of themselves are almost ubiquitous in that movement. It is a movement of ignorant revolt against a political system that is too subtle and complex for the followers of populism to comprehend.

O'Reilly is not the first one to make a career of preying on that mass ignorance, and he certainly won't be the last...
