What issues would you say show a diversity of opinion in the Republican party, where there is a dissident wing to the left of Bush? I know he has opposition on his right, but I can't think of any more moderate Republican pols or issue groups apart from the Log Cabin crowd.

As for a campaign ad about the party turning its back on Lieberman, who is there outside the conservative right that is upset about how his primary campaign is turning out? Preaching to the choir, seems to me. No great love lost for Lieberman in the center or he would be planning his own 2008 run for the White House as the moderate choice in the party.

As I said to someone the other day, I don't see the scenario where Lieberman becomes a party leader, even in his image.

"it will be a sad day for the Democratic Party if Lieberman is defeated"

It will be a day to party. He's a Republican; a "Save Teri Schaivo" Republican.
