BTW, thanks for the comments on out of money calls on CHS. I haven't taken a position, but am looking at options if I do.

I work for Allstate ALL (market analyst), and I was very surprised our stock didn't jump after earnings last week. Guidance was raised and despite the softening mkt I can't help but think the stock has to move higher barring another terrible catastrophe season. (At least I don't see much downside). I was looking at calls there also, - the 60s are selling cheap... but given the lack of market response I guess the mkt knows best.

KT,

When you're discussing market timing below are you referring more to daytrading type systems, or timing in general?

Zweig discusses a method that may be bullish for years, or bearish for years. His managed funds have performed poorly, but at the time he wrote his book it was pretty good at picking longer term uptrends.

My thought is to try to find a warning system other than the "gut" to quickly push me to a conservative stance in market tops like we've seen in the last few months, but keep me in the mkt otherwise.

Also, thanks for the comment on money management system. I don't have one and need to think about. I tend to just go long on companies I like, and raise cash if I'm bearish.

thanks again for your comments. On the quad 2s - awesome story. must've been tough to finish the game soiled underwear! <g>
