Yes, we had an incredible week down in N.O. with building houses for a big 40-house Habitat for Humanity project in the upper 9th ward(the lower still looks like Godzilla's bulldozer went through it, and a lot of folks down there think it ought to just be bulldozed and started over!), as well as painting/cleaning some schools for the upcoming school year and doing some cleanup/landscaping in the Lakeview community. An awesome experience, to say the least. The folks down there feel pretty much forgotten by the country and are deeply appreciative of the help that does show up. Apparently none of the federal funding has yet percolated down to the level of actually getting there and accomplishing anything yet. I was a little concerned earlier in the week, since my wife had her work laptop with her with wireless access for working on the trip down, seeing the dive in AMD early in the week, but after Monday, I never had the time to check on it until we got back last night. Things looked up, it seems! :)
