the alternative would be change traffic pattern. set up roads one way going into town and an alternate road way coming out. I have seen this done successfully in some small towns.

How do people in your little town make enough money to live on if there aren't any businesses? Or do the young people move out of town and on when they grow up because there is nothing for them to do there? Not saying that is wrong, but just asking.

My husband grew up in a little town of about 400 back East. The nearest bigger town is about 6 miles away, about 7,000 people. The entire area used to be supported by wealthy people who came to live there during the summers, so the townspeople helped them in their large houses, grounds, etc. Now those people are dead, and their children and grandchildren are travelers of the world.

Tourists come, but there isn't much for them to do, so they don't stay. My husbands little town is still there, but very shabby now. People who are still there, can't afford to keep their places clean and neat like they used to.

In the larger town nearby, same thing. The shopping is ho-hum....the town area isn't spiffy, there isn't much to do, because city fathers want it back like it was....so people don't stay. The only business where people can work is in town as a merchant or help, or tourism related. Not enough to capture lots of tourists, and who wants them anyway? Not the city fathers....

Guess it's the old story....ashes to ashes....or blackberries to falling down barns, and back to blackberries.
