It isn't fair to lump Gibson and the SSPV in with other Latin Mass groups. The SSPV and the CMRI are not in communion with Rome, but there are Latin Mass groups that are. The vast majority of attendees of the Latin Mass don't believe the nonsense Gibson believes.

I don't remember which group said it, either the SSPV or CMRI, but they believe Paul VI was switched sometime during his papacy for a body double.

Clearly, Gibson needs to get away from these people and start attending Mass said by one of the fraternities recognized by Rome.

are you saying latin mass people hate jews? i doubt you can draw that conclusion. i could care less what he or a group think about the pope... it has nothing to do with his hating jews.

His father didn't make a man who may be almost fifty years old say those things yesterday. sure dad was a terrible influence but mel is a grown man and is responsible for his actions.

I think he needs to take a good look at himself and get help sounds like a lot resentments built up and alcohols only releases them.

Would this save him? Maybe. He has a long row to hoe to come back. It will take years.

Nah. Today's Left has already made anti-Semitism respectable. There won't be much of a fuss, and it will die down quickly. Wait and see.

I don't know.

Maybe, maybe not.

I sort of pity him. A not very bright guy who, like a lot of equally not-so-bright Hollywood types, gets to have his opinions given undue consideration thanks to the mass media's appetite for the sensational. As a result, he may think, like Barbra, that what he has to say is original, worthwhile, important. Newsflash, Mel: it isn't.

On the other hand, though I was aware of Mel's religious quirk, I had no idea until recently that he seems to harbor such a nasty antisemitic streak. On the other, other hand, vbg, people can say very stupid things they don't mean when they are drunk.

The real problem he might have is in Hollywood, where many of the powers that be are Jews. Hard to predict if they will hold the incident against him. They may not if he makes the right apologetic noises.

I betcha a dollar he goes into some sort of "treatment" in a few days.
