If someone seriously believed they should and could kill everyone in the West, wouldn't you just lock them up in an asylum? It's nuts, for any rational human to think that way, regardless of culture or religion. Those that do are a lunatic fringe, not the majority we have to deal with. Weird distortions like that bend and warp the rational policy debate on how to take different groups who can't get along but can't crush each other and fashion some workable solution.

I think that was as magnificent post, Euterpe.. And it did make more of an over simplification, wipe them all out... However, I was not sitting with unintelligent, naive women. They happen to be most sophisticated in their knowledge of world events.. I remember when on the phone about two years ago with a former student of mine who married an Israeli and is living there. When I brought up the subject of the Palestinians and the mess she said, Mary Lou, they are all smelly and inhuman.. You just cannot think of them as more than that. They are sub humans and they want us Jews annihilated. So, why do you take their side..? What is your solution, Euterpe... without it being over simplification..even realizing that their culture,religion and history have made them different... Are you saying that there can be no co existence ? Are you implying that it is an unsolvable mess ? Not critical, but just asking..
