Moon's stealth creationist hits Kansas

Influential creationist Jonathan Wells says he was chosen by Rev. Moon to destroy Darwin

From Red State Rabble:
7/28/2006

The Discovery Institute, apparently, has decided to moon Kansas.

The Discovery Institute, that overcaffienated intelligent design think tank located in Seattle, has announced plans to run two new radio commercials promoting their misnamed Stand Up for Science website and the online petition to “Stand up for Science, Stand up for Kansas.”

The ads will air this weekend across Kansas just in time to drive right-wing religious voters to the polls for the primary election here.

According to Discovery, one ad features Discovery fellow Jonathan Wells -- they don't mention that Wells is a follower of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, a man who has proclaimed himself God, and the Unification Church.

"Father's [Moon's] words, my studies, and my prayers convinced me that I should devote my life to destroying Darwinism, just as many of my fellow Unificationists had already devoted their lives to destroying Marxism," writes Wells. "When Father chose me to enter a PhD program in 1978, I welcomed the opportunity to prepare myself for battle."

Wells, who calls himself a scientist even though he'd made up his mind about evolution long before he got his PhD, and actually was exposed to the evidence, is nothing more than a right-wing religious zealot who has donned a lab coat.

Here's what he says in the commercials to be aired in Kansas:

“... it is imperative to understand both the evidence for and against a scientific theory… as a scientist, I am standing up for science education policies that require students to learn both the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence that supports Darwin’s theory, as well as the scientific evidence that challenges it.”

Stealth candidates. Stealth scientists. A stealth campaign to introduce creationism and ultra-right politics into science classes. The contempt of the Discovery Institute and its backers for the people of Kansas knows no bounds.

This is one of those things that is very hard to explain away. If he had blown .24 he could have blamed the booze but a .12? Please.

He would have been better off if they caught him sodomizing a goat.

Well, Mel Gibson has blown his cover. I guess he doesn't like Jews.

A lot of other people in the world don't like Americans (thanks, significantly to the "leadership" of this country).

Many Americans (light-skinned variety) don't like Blacks. Lots of Blacks don't like the light-skinned variety.

Hispanics are prized by employers looking for people who will work for less than the gucking Minimum Wage. Other people who used to in inhabit that job sector, probably don't like Hispanics much.

American servicemen in Iraq, don't like "Hadjis" who in turn probably despise them.

Some people in the West don't like Orientals ("they all look the same..") Actually they don't!

When will people WAKE UP to the realization that we are all
HUMANS?
Of course there are differences of language, skin pigmentation, culture, whatever, from one group to another and from one person to another. We had better start celebrating our AFFINITIES rather than our DIFFERENCES, or we are going to make this world truly uninhabitable.

So why is it bloody NEWS when Mel Gibson, when stupid drunk, makes Anti-Semitic remarks? Would it have been news if he had made anti-Bulgarian remarks? I don't think so. I think it is because "Anti-Semitic" has been associated (as a thought-form) with the Holocaust, and judged to be a greater crime than ordinary common-garden stupid discrimination. I think it is the SAME as the rest--the denial of the essential HUMANITY of the other.

Anti-(fill in the Race) remarks are stupid, ignorant, unnecessary, hateful and DIVISIVE. But in my book, Anti-Semitic is no better or worse than the rest of them.

Namaste!

Jim
