What do you see a hearts and mind moment being?

Easily misunderstood on that one because I'm doing sort of hit and run typing here today.

I only meant by that particular sentence that I felt sheer military force would not work and only "hearts and minds" very broadly speaking, would work over the long term.

To fill in the content of "hearts and minds" would take more time than I have this morning. But it goes back to one of my posts, and what I liked about Scowcroft. Back to trying to reposition the US as a mediator rather than a supporter of one side, to resurrecting, however damaged, a prospect, however slight, of a peace process.

And then use soft power to encourage the "modernization" process in the ME (lots and lots of content there).

But, as for the paragraph about US mediation and peace process, history may not be reversible.
