I'm not sure if it is widely known, but Nintendo's next system will sport an ATI GPU. I was not aware of that.

Petz

I was mistakenly under the impression that you thought that number was too high. I have since been corrected.

Seeing as Intel can't make 40M CPUs in one quarter, Intel yields, even including P4's, are obviously less than 50%, even after accounting for having to make two cores for each D9XX chip.

Please, don't make yourself look ignorant. There's enough of that going on here already.

Petz - good response. I also had the following thought to:

The real question here is, who is going to but a power hungry, under performing Opteron when they can buy a Conroe [sic - you mean a Woodcrest] instead?

If you apply this phuddian logic, then why did anyone buy a power hungry, underperforming Xeon in the last three years? Perhaps AMD couldn't have supplied the world demand for all server chips, and customers would therefore be forced to buy the less desirable Xeons, but that's phuddian logic of another sort.

Server chip demand doesn't change in 5 minutes. People will continue to buy what they have bought and has treated them well for many years. Its interesting to see Intel put back into the same position/perception as AMD had to fight for a long time.
