It seems Israel has learned from American mistakes in Viet Nam. First "Don't stop bombing when your enemy cries "peace talks". What that means is your wearing them down, and deminishing their moral. During the Viet Nam era, the VC would use the peace talks as a method to buy time to re-group. Of course they'd want the U.S. to stop the current bombing campaign as "good faith" in the peace process.
