Big Box is ugly. I would rather have the ambience and cache of a walkable village setting.

Most of us would. But when you pick up a 14oz box of Nabisco chocolate chip cookies for $4.27 at your local "ambience and cache" place and then find them at Wal Mart for $2.29, it does change some peoples outlook.

I use that example because I like those cookies, and that's the difference between buying them from the ABC store in Waikiki and from Walmart three miles away.

I find that Wal Mart is 20% to 30% cheaper, item to item, than the Safeway a couple of miles away form it that I buy my single items at.
