We did not invade Japan before we conquered it. You may recall the costs would have been to high. You might consider that the Japanese culture. faith, emperor worship made them very good tools to be used by their leaders. Enough so that many were willing to kill their families rather than surrender. What do we have today with radical Islam? Until the Islamofascists are annihilated utterly and completely we wont be able to declare victory over this ideology of hate. The Japanese did not surrender even after we dropped napalm onto most major cities which included of homes made of paper. We burned hundreds of thousands of elderly, women and children to death night after night, week after week before nuking them. It was insane and it was war. The main areas we need to worry about are the areas immediately around the Persian Gulf, where the oil is and where Iran is.

That would be insane, not to mention impossible. Possible but unnecessary. Al Qaeda isn't anywhere on a par with the Wehrmacht, the Japanese military, nor are we in a world war. Most of the Arabic world is happy to trade with us and the rest of the Western world, not to mention the Chinese, the Japanese, and so on. The Pax Americana allows this to happen more-or-less freely. We pay, they play, and we all get rich. This is what the Islamists hate -- we're all having too good of a time. Women going around with their faces showing, working, going to school, men playing tennis in shorts, men and women dancing together in night clubs, democracy, whisky and sex. It must be stopped.
