Nice discussion Dale. Most of the areas conquered were to get closer to the mainland to provide bombers a landing strip. You really are a mean spirited bugger arent you. I am expressing my fears that these Islamofascists/Iranians are pushing us towards a major confrontation and you want to label this concern as some fantasy I would enjoy. Did I say wipe out whole cultures? I do say that we will take action if required to protect the Persian Gulf region. I will say that it certainly appears we are on a course here that will result in a major confrontation, most likely with Iran.

When I was teaching I worked on a human relations committee. The idea was to integrate not only various factions in the school but religious groups... We had meetings .... sitting in a circle ( I am big on circles... as it predisposes everyone being equal and no one gets to sit in the back of the room ) and we discussed the differences that we had. When the kids felt comfortable then often would bring up why they hated nerds, or the Jews in the school whom they saw as snobs, or the blacks which were in the minority..The groups in the school changed. Believe it or not by talking about our prejudices, hates and biases some good can result.... Harboring these just makes anger... I have heard of a camp somewhere that had Jews and Arabs together for a summer. By the end of the summer they had become friends... They returned to their homeland with much more love in their hearts than the man whom I heard today on NPR who lost his wife and five children, the youngest being 2 who swore revenge.. He is joining Hezbelloh and he swears he will kill Jews and Americans who have helped make the weapons that have destroyed his family. Can you blame him.? Until we learn that we all have something to learn from other cultures and that we had better try methods different from war and killing to establish what we think is the way to mold the world... in our eyes not theirs...we will never be able to have peace. Your children and mine will live in fear for decades to come and that is the sad part. I think our opportunity has been lost. As John Kerry... the guy so many of us call flip flopper said on a TV interview this morning.. The Bush administration has not done anything but inflame most of the world boy benign neglect,name calling and failure to negotiate since it's inception. And thank you Mary Cluney for expressing so well in short sentences what I believe too.
