Apparently you think that not responding to an unprovoked attack, kidnappings and rockets would convince them. Is that the case? Is appeasement your answer to their provocation or perhaps you do not see what hizbolla and hamas did as a provocation.

No. That's not what I think. You list only two options, either decimate southern Lebanon or not respond. There are other possibilities. I'll mention but one. Israel could have gone into Lebanon; picked up a half dozen Hezbollah; taken them back to Israel and offered a swap, the two Israelis for the 6 Hezbollah. With a smile. If Hezbollah declines, Israel stands pat.

The question on the US neo-nazis should have made you realize that the US neo-nazis don't make any substantial difference. In the big scheme of things they are irrelevant.

The only reason Hamas or Hezbollah makes a difference is because they are large organizations. And while Israel can knock off some Hezbollah, in terms of the entire organization the affect is small.

Just within Lebanon there are an estimated 3-5,000 trained Hezbollah and another 50,000 the militia. How many of them could Israel possibly knock off? And how many civilians will Israel have to kill in the process? Neither of those two questions requires an answer.
