When you have to cross check sources, you're talking about a problem with wikipedia.

I wouldn't call it a problem, it's more of a feature.

Since Wikipedia is open to all sorts of editors it is also open to those who would like to slant the information. Because it is open to all sorts of editors it gets corrected too. You should think of it as the starting point to learning about a selected subject, not as the last word.
