"Arafat used the peace talks as a tactical weapon to help him achieve the strategic defeat of israel. Ask Clinton if you dont believe me."

Clinton? What a joke. Ask that politician about something that would damage his reputation if he told the truth? Would you buy a used car from Clinton? Or the Brooklyn Bridge?

Clinton told the truth when forced to. Who is forcing him to tell the truth now? No one. So what ever Clinton says about Camp David and Taba has to be seen in that light. Just as what ever Israel and the PLO say about that subject has to be understood in that light.

More important Israel has previously wanted to keep the settlements in the occupied territories. Now, 6 years after Camp David, they realize that they are vulnerable both militarily and economically so they want to cut their losses. Hence Gaza and the wall.
Hizbullah, Syria, and Iran recognize this and so they up the price. Hence the rocket attacks as an answer to the Israeli bombings. The bombings were a response to the capture of 2 soldiers and the death of 7 others. And that response was unexpected but I suspect welcomed by Hizbullah. I also suspect that Israel miscalculated the ability of Hizbullah to wage a classic guerrilla war. 21 days and no victory in sight. That must be a blow to Israeli self confidence. I hope that this will bring the Israelis back to the negotiating table.
