That is the question Landis has to answer. Why is his above all the other riders? All I know is that after they finish each day these guys are ALL about recovery. Yes they can recover much faster than the average biker but they are going at a much faster pace and over more difficult terrain than even a very good biker could maintain for a single day. Massage, what they eat, what they drink, it's all about recovery. Insomnia is pretty much a given, if they're not careful they'll spend several hours in the john (stay away from the freaking tea), they put their bodies through a hellish ordeal every single day.

how come all the previous winners have managed to stay within normal limits? One explanation is that clever doctors inject their victims with both testosterone and epitestosterone in equal amounts. This boosts the testosterone without messing up the ratio. If, however, the doctor gets his two hormones from different sources then they might metabolise at different rates so the ratio is off again when tested. It could also be that one bottle is a bit older than the other and so was not as potent when it was injected. TP
