Arafat supported Bush and the US after 9-11. He made a big show of that, begging us to lethim help us in any way he could. Some radical Palestinians may have cheered, but not the governmment, and not the Iranians either.

Now a smart leader would have used all that goodwill to quell tensions, get cooperation on killing real terrorists and keep a strong secure peace. We would have been much better off with a leader like that.
