<how do you suggest that we defeat the Islamofascist?> You fight an ideology with something more attractive -- an ideology is only as powerful as its ability to attract people. This is a purely political war. If you have nothing more attractive to offer, you lose. If you have something far more attractive and make it available, you win. We lose this war because we make ourselves appear to be incredibly unattractive. You don't win people over to your point of view by killing their women and children. Ask yourself this: What else could we have done with $300 billion dollars besides invading Iraq? Seriously, think about it. What impact would a middle east scholarship program with a fund of $50 billion do to our standing in the region? Pause for a moment and think about the implications of millions of Islamic believers pursuing their education at the expense of the American taxpayer in American schools. Think about it. Then ask yourself what are we doing now? We are making it infinitely more difficult for the future leaders of the Islamic world to study in America. We are cutting ourselves off from those who will lead the Muslim world. What do you think that will cost us? What do you think it costs us not to have diplomatic relationships with Iran and Syria? What do you think it costs us when US servicemen rape and kill Iraqi children? What do you think it costs us when we humiliate Iraqi men while we gather "intelligence"? Do you get it? We are losing because we are stupid -- truly and unbelievably stupid -- and they are patient. They know that no army will ever defeat them. They know that we are fully committed to defeating ourselves and to assisting them to win. We could win, but only if we did the exact opposite of what we are doing now.
