Good post.
Of course John is in the clear here as he was posting a report from the Aden sisters without having to verify it's veracity.

I appreciate the clarification.

Tom

As I read it, the statement doesn't refer to foreign "oil and gas", it refers to foreign "oil and gas producers". In fact, any other interpretation strikes me as rather stupid.

Soldiers seize Bolivia oil, gas
President's decree gives government a majority control of the energy industry
John Otis, David Ivanonich, Houston Chronicle

Tuesday, May 2, 2006

(05-02) 04:00 PDT Bogota -- Making good on his main campaign pledge, Bolivian President Evo Morales ordered troops to occupy the country's oil and natural gas fields on Monday and issued a decree giving the government a majority control over the energy industry.

"The pillaging of our resources by transnational companies is over," Morales said in a speech at the San Alberto gas field in southern Bolivia. "From this day forward, all hydrocarbons in the country are nationalized."
