It's an all purpose argument! :-) For example, pick the NATIONAL DEBT and our ongoing annual federal deficits for your topic.... Say, (repeat after me now, Uncle Fester), 'I'll most likely be DEAD by the time it REALLY HURTS America. So, why should I give a fig about the future generations or my nation?' Or, pitch the example of a disasterous foreign policy that dissipates our resources and ignites foreign opposition to our nation.... ('Ya see... you can USE THE SAME KIND OF AN ARGUMENT! for that one! Just repeat 'why should I CARE? I'll most likely be dead before the vultures come home to roost....) How neat of you to come up with that!
