I agree wrt to the big dog problem. I should have further stated that originally. I don't know of any population which moved from quite some distance away, and purchased (or was granted by a third party) a land where they remained a minority but controlled the place, and where accepted by the original inhabitants. There are plenty of examples if the new comers end up in the majority.
