Humans lived in communal tribe settings far longer than we have lived in the so-called "nuclear family" setup, with folks pairing off into separate houses, often cut off from family and community support. The book "Marriage and Morals" by Bertrand Russell provides an interesting perspective. Definitely some eye-opening facts presented there. As for those who want to dictate how we live, I refer to my favorite quote from an old Methodist minister who said "If someone tells you that 'God told me to tell you to do something' vote with your feet!"
