Think of it this way Geoff. Shiaa and Sunni hate each other to death but hate israel and US more (today). Al Quaeda has attacked the west in the US, India, Europe, Africa, Indonesia, etc. Hizbolla has not engaged in that. They are iranian islamic militants who want israel destroyed and radical shiaa islam imposed in the shiaa crescent. But they do not target the West unlless the west encroaches on their territory as they see it. And in iran and lebanon there is a democratic component in what they do and morever they are not the Taliband in their treatment of women. Their blind spot is Israel's existance on islamic lands. That may be a bigger deal for them than it is for al quaeda. How to settle palestine with shiaa support is the $64 question. Once done, iran wont feel quite as compelled to go nuclear because their disputes with the US and Israel will mostly be behind them. And lets not forget sunni pakistan with nukes as another reason iran may want nukes one day and who knows they may be right, if there is to be a shiaa/sunni war in the offing.
