Can we really get spending discipline, even on Medicare? That would be nice....but I'm not holding my breath...

Yep, Paulson has gravitas (unlike him immediate predecessor), but --- as with ALL Treasury Secretaries --- it helps to read a little between the lines, as with a Fed. Chairman's statements. (That blurb about support for a 'strong dollar', for example, is required boilerplate... not to be taken particularly seriously.)
