As Vitamin A is stored in fat rather than water soluble, it's possible to overdose. That becomes more likely if one is taking a supplement.

Personally, I take no vitamins or supplements whatsoever. I firmly believe that most people have sufficient access to fresh fruits and vegetables at all times of the year permitting optimal nutrition.

In addition, unknown micronutrients are often required for the supplements to work. They are naturally supplied when whole, fresh foods are eaten; and may not be present if one relies on a supplement for essential nutrients.

One exception. I do take vitamin D from late fall to early spring as I live in Canada.
