Steven M. Swink has an interesting $XAU:$GOLD chart here, does anyone follow him?

stockcharts.com

and while I want my shares to go up too, it looks like these consolidations can last awhile. For example, the one from May-Aug 05 provided 4 entry points within a 5% range, and looking at the consolidation starting June 06 it would appear to me that we could get one or two more entries here. He also has a point for another minor bottom around Oct 06. Since the 05 consolidation was about 4 months in length, if we assume the 06 consolidation started a little later, then Oct would be in the 5th month counting from June 06, so could it come sooner?

His $XAU weekly chart also has a 1.5 year trading range. The last was Apr 04-Oct 06, the current starting Oct 06. If we are indeed in this range 120/130 to 155/170, then we might get a chance to accumulate again. While the lows might not be of the mid June 06 level, we could see prices within 5% of that.

I'm guessing you don't have any energy stocks. I have found, at least so far, that allocating the risky part of my PF, i.e. most of it, has evened out some of the swings, and if so inclined, you can redeploy back and forth depending on how you think each is going to do.
