I don't think there is much dispute what happened, though at this stage it hardly matters. Lots of news reports are confused and miswritten on all topics. One has to interpolate an accurate account from them. Several of the Israelis were killed when they entered Lebanon after the initial attack by Hizbullah into Israel which killed 2 and captured 2. I still am not clear how Hizbullah managed to cross the border and how far they got into Israel. Maybe they just crept up to the fence and then blew it up at a guard post. In the Gaza incident I understood the Hamas guys came out of a tunnel into Israel.
