As with all things like property rights, laws, borders, etc. it's all just the agreement of the moment between interested parties. It's not concrete, it's not a law of physics, it's just an agreement.

If you want an agreement, you need to negotiate. Sometimes that 'negotiation' takes the form of bludgeoning the other parties to death. They won't argue any longer but they probably have buddies who will.

So does Israel always want to live in an armed camp? Does the current power structure there wish this to continue? Lots of people love war and conflict. The chaos provides lots of opportunities, money flows and life is, frankly, a great deal more interesting and exciting for them. If they want to live like this for a very long time, they should just continue to do what they are doing.

It's their choice.

We, as the US, just need to get the heck out and stop using ME oil. Aside from helping in humanitarian relief, what the heck are we accomplishing there except to muck things up?

After the hell-on-earth that is Iraq, why does any country want the US government to step in to do anything but, maybe, hold their coats?
