The rightwing is prolonging this war because of election season. Bushies think their only chance of reversing poll numbers is to stay "at war" and pretend we're Israel and Hezbollah is on our doorstep. It is causing a lot of unnecessary death and destruction, including environmental nightmares.

Hopefully sane minds will prevail, but don't expect the sanity to come from the White House.
