How often do we see the anti-Semitic comments of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian president excused or defended by the "nuanced"? By whom? From what I've read there has been universal condemnation of the anti Semitic comments by the Iranian president. As for Hamas and Hezbollah, they don't seem to make that many anti-Semitic comments..........at least I don't hear of them. They simply do not want a Jewish state occupying Arab land. If you can drop your Jewish bias, they kind of make sense.I don't see those comments as being any different than those of Mel Gibson, except that they are sober and unapologetic in their thinking. I do. Gibson is a troubled man......has been for as long as I've known of him. He smokes like chimney and drinks like a fish. His father is an extremist Christian fundamentalist......so you can imagine what has been done to Gibson's head. On top of all that, he's Catholic.......which means he suffers from Catholic guilt almost as bad as Jewish guilt. The President of Iran may hate Jews but when he makes his statements for public dissemination its to get a partisan rise. Gibson makes his comments because he is just angry at himself, at the world, at life......period. I see a considerable difference between the two.To me, defending or excusing those comments isn't much different from supporting them. I don't defend or excuse either of those comments. However, they have little to do with my opposition to Israel in its conflict with Lebanon. What's offensive is your attempt to tie the two together.
