I fill my tires with fart molecules.

Not only are they bigger than both nitrogen and oxygen molecules, it gives me an excuse to eat all sorts of food I normally wouldn't be able to.

Why would anyone even want this? Is adding air to tires actually a problem for people? Have americans gotten THAT lazy? I check and have to add air to my tires once a year at most, and that air is 70% nitrogen.

I think your'e right.
Avogadro Law states that equal volumes of gases at the same temperature and pressure contain the same number of molecules regardless of their chemical nature and physical properties.

Which implies that under the same pressure and temperature a tire will contain exactly as many oxygen molecules as nitrogen molecules if filled with either. Which means that n number oxygen molecules occupy the same amount of space as n number of oxygen molecules. From that we can extrapolate, that the writer of the article is a "dumbass".

However, both nitrogen and oxygen molecules consist of pairings, and the atomic weight of nitrogen is 14 whereas oxygen is 16 which would indicate that a nitrogen filled tire would be lighter than an air filled tire at the same pressure and temperature than an oxygen filled tire (but only marginally). If that's an advantage then hydrogen or helium would be the way to go. Helium is less reactive than both nitrogen and oxygen. I really don't seem what the preference for nitrogen could be except that is is less reactive than oxygen and is a tiny bit lighter. One biggie might be the water vapor in natural air.
