Kaplan and Small ask whether individuals expressing strong anti-Israel sentiments, such as the statement by Ted Honderich, Emeritus Grote Professor of the Philosophy of Mind and Logic at University College London, that “those Palestinians who have resorted to necessary killing have been right to try to free their people, and those who have killed themselves in the cause of their people have indeed sanctified themselves,” are more likely than the general population to also support in such old-style anti-Semitic slurs as “Jews have too much power in our country today.”

Such a specious argument........it has traction only because you all are willing to believe and so many Americans don't know what goes on outside our borders. First of all, I do not believe the Jews have too much power in this country nor do I believe they have all the money [just in case that comes up]. However, I do believe the Israeli lobby is very strong and currently has too much influence in the American gov't.

As far as Israel is concerned, I think its a failed venture from several different perspectives. It has never been financially viable and is very dependent on the US for military and financial aid. Its an island in the midst of a sea of hostility. It has been a thorn in the side of Arabs since its forced creation in 1948. Israel complains about the Arab terrorists in its midst but at one time the Zionists were the terrorists.

And the ultimate irony has to do demography......that the Israeli Arabs eventually will surpass the Israeli Jews in population. What will Israel do then.......it can no longer
be a Jewish state.

I say we accept the inevitable and pull the plug now. Israel costs the US too much in terms of money and political capital in the world.
