Carter sent a rescue mission to Iran. It ran into a sandstorm or was sabotaged. Reagan's people then bribed the Iranians to hold onto the hostages until after the election. Why did the Iranians agree? Because Reaganites, the same ones involved in the arms for hostages scandal of Iran-Contra promised the Iranians badly needed military parts and weapons systems. And they delivered. They delivered multiple times in fact. This was a huge scandal which didn't come out until long after the election. Reagan didn't outright steal the election like GW Bush has done twice, but he came close. If not for this bribery, the hostages might have been released and Carter might have won. In many ways, Carter was a very good president. He just had bad luck with the Arabs all around. Although he did accomplicsh the Camp David Summit which was a huge breakthrough. And by the way. Bush-Cheney are terrible on energy prices too. And it could get worse fast. In which case it could end up even worse than during the Carter years. Energy prices have already doubled under Bush-Cheney. Mainly due toi their pals gouging us. Carter never had any such huge corruption issues. Carter is an honerst man and a true Christian.
