There now, see, nothing like a Chaostan to make los Hijos de la Chingada seem positively civilised ... no partisan politics in Uzbekistan, you start up anything of the kind and the guy who runs the place will have your scrotum made into a tiny lampshade ... Newmont is big, powerful, probably got more money than that guy, but they are hampered by having to appear to adhere to rule of law, they can't just have that dickhead shot and hire somebody else to run the country properly ... why not, well because that simply isn't done any longer, old chap Ever read any O Henry? ... yanqui adventurer/businessman/crook goes somewhere in Central America to make a buck, or get away from the repercussions of making a buck elsewhere, variations on this theme form many of his short stories .... written right around the time the term 'banana republic' was coined, and he may have coined it himself ... there is not much for partisan politics in O Henry, he points out absurdity in our whole species, across the board
