I'm sorry, CJ; Israel isn't defending itself its destroying a nation. "

I think I covered that in the next paragraph. They are far beyond the response I thought they were going to give. And they have lost all the support that they had in the beginning, sans the US. There were many Arab countries who were blaming Hezbollah for the mess, but that has changed.

Actually, even though you did mention the response was overdone, most of the paragraph read more like you saw the war expanding into a conflict with Syria and Iran which it may do.....and that was your main concern.

You focus on the 2 soldiers, they were just the straw that broke the camel's back. There has been a constant series of incidents along the border ever since Israel pulled out of Lebanon. Hezbollah believes that they were responsible for driving Israel out of Lebanon. So, secure in that belief, they have been plinking away at Israel ever since. Israel's hand haven't been clean either, they regard the border as merely a suggestion. Bottom line, things have been tense for a while and Hezbollah has been jumping on the springs of the mousetrap.

Even still, you don't try to destroy a nation over it. Your analogy is correct....its a mousetrap and Hezbollah has been "plinking" away at Israel. Those terms do not begin to equal or justify the level of destruction we are witnessing.
